Senior full-stack engineer

You would be the third engineer. You would design as well as build, sit in front of clients, and own a project from the first call to the hand-over.

Write to us

A short note and something you’ve built is plenty. A founder replies within two working days.

What you’d be doing

  • Design and build web applications, internal systems and the integrations between them
  • Sit in discovery sessions and write the process maps that come out of them
  • Own delivery for a client project, with a founder alongside you rather than above you
  • Write the documentation as you go, because that is part of the work
  • Review other people’s code, and have yours reviewed

What we’re looking for

  • Several years building production software you still stand behind
  • Fluency in TypeScript and one server-side language, and no religion about either
  • The judgement to say when something should not be built
  • Plain writing: most of this job is explaining things to people who are not engineers
  • The right to work in the UK — we cannot sponsor visas yet

What we offer

  • A founder on every project, including yours
  • Fortnightly cycles and a real hand-over, not permanent crunch
  • Hybrid: two days a week in London, the rest wherever you work best
  • Budget and time for the tools and reading that make you better
  • Salary discussed on the first call, not after three rounds

How we hire

Four steps, about two weeks, and we pay for your time.

  1. 01

    A conversation

Thirty minutes with a founder about what you have built and what you want to build next. No whiteboard.

  2. 02

    A piece of work

A small, paid, take-home problem close to something we actually do. Two to three hours, and we pay for your time.

  3. 03

    A walk-through

We go through your solution together, argue about the trade-offs, and you meet whoever you would work with.

  4. 04

    An offer

Within two working days of the last conversation, either way. We tell you why.

Not this role, but you think we should talk?

Write anyway. We would rather hear from a designer or an engineer we like a year before we can hire them than not at all.

Read how we work first — it is most of the job.
